Kuala Lumpur, 7th December 2020 - Malaysians should continue to be cautious and comply with the standard operating procedures (SOP) set by the government, despite the nod given to interstate and interdistrict travel.
President of Malaysian Medical Association (MMA), Professor Dato’ Dr. Subramaniam Muniandy said it was crucial to continue adhering to the SOP, as Malaysia has not reached the end of its COVID-19 fight, with the virus still present in the community.
"As state borders will be opened starting tomorrow (today) and domestic travel is expected to increase in the next few weeks, we want to remind Malaysians of the importance of maintaining full adherence to the SOP.
"Otherwise, cases can rise further which can result in travel restrictions being reimposed. Green zones can easily turn into red zones if there is poor compliance," he said.
Dato’ Dr. Subramaniam said MMA fully supported the government's approach of focusing on SOP enforcement.
