George Town, 4 Nov - Traffickers are now concealing drugs in wooden boxes filled with porcelain statues and passing them off as gifts to fool the authorities. 

Penang deputy police chief Deputy Comm Datuk A.Thaiveegan said they came across this tactic last week. 

"Police found a wooden box containing such statues, seized from a 32-year-old Nigerian man at a condominium unit in Batu Ferringhi on Friday.

"The box came from China and was sent here using an international courier company. We recovered 2.5kg of syabu worth RM400.000 hidden in the bottom which can only be discovered if inspected closely," he said at a press conference yesterday.
