Petaling Jaya, 7th November 2021 - He led a valiant effort to relieve the Bukit Kepong Police Station in Pagoh, Johor, that was besieged by ruthless communist terrorists, 71 years ago.
He was instrumental in helping quash many a guerilla attack against security forces, during the era of British High Commissioner to Malaya, Field Marshal Sir Gerald Templer.
He was also one of the three advisers to the king on the Federal Pardons Board, which reviews cases of inmates appealing for release from prison, and had served the board continuously for 42 years under 10 kings and five prime ministers.
But sadly, retired CP Tan Sri Dato' Seri Sentosa Setia Diraja J.J Raj (Jr.), popularly known as J.J. Raj Jr. fought his last "battle" against ailing health and died yesterday, just over three months after his 100th birthday on July 27.
Described by friends and foe as a larger than life "ferocious tiger" for his tactical manoeuvres, along with police Special Branch and armed forces comrades against communist insurgents, Tan Sri J.J. Raj (Jr.) had survived numerous attempts on his life.
