Johor Bahru, 28th December 2020 - Police have received 15 reports regarding the presence of a ‘meat cartel' that has been passing of non-certified meat as halal meat in the Malaysian market.
Police Chief of Johor, CP Dato’ Ayob Khan Mydin Pitchay said, 13 of the reports were from the Domestic Trade and Consumer Affairs Ministry (KPDNHEP), with the rest from the Customs Department and a political party.
"Twelve of the reports lodge by the ministry are related to the inspection and seizure in the case, while the other report was under the Anti-Money Laundering Act the alleged company involved.
"The report by the Customs Department is on investigation under Section 135(1)(d) of the Customs Act.
"The report by the political party, meanwhile, is to urge the authorities to take action against those involved in the case", said Dato’ Ayob Khan when contacted by The New Straits Times.
