Kota Bharu, 3rd December 2022 - Kassim Malu's wealth of experience and skills honed from years of serving in the police force's elite Senoi Praaq battalion came in handy when he decided to embark on a career as a malim gunung (mountain guide) in Kelantan.
The Senoi Praaq Battalion is an elite team comprising Orang Asli, who are famous for their tracking and survival skills.
"I was in the Senoi Praaq Battalion from 1978 to 1986 and have entered many forests in the country. My team was involved in tough operations as we were famed for our tracking and survival skills.
"My years of experience in the forest and fighting skills made it easy for me to become a malim gunung and teach the Orang Asli to be like me," said Kassim who is from the Temiar subtribe.
