Keratan Akhbar Pilihan Aidilfitri 2023 Two Million Vehicles Expected On Highways During Raya

Kuala Lumpur, 12th April 2023 - PLUS Malaysia Berhad (PLUS) anticipates approximately two million vehicles to use its highway network on peak days during Aidilfitri this year.
PLUS chief operating officer, Datuk Zakaria Ahmad Zabidi said, the figure translates to a 20% increase in traffic compared with normal days.
“Therefore, we advise highway users to plan their balik kampung travel earlier to avoid getting caught up in traffic surges during peak days.”
He said to cope with the traffic increase, PLUS is taking various steps to help travellers enjoy safer and more convenient journeys on its highways.
"The strategies include safety, traffic and congestion management, traffic distribution, traffic management at toll plazas, facilities management at rest areas, as well as traffic information dissemination throughout the holiday period."
Datuk Zakaria, said to ensure the safety of highway users, PLUS would collaborate with police and the Road Transport Department (RTD) for traffic law enforcement as well as to carry out road safety advocacy programmes over the festive period.
