Police are bracing for a rise in the daily number of road accidents and deaths during Hari Raya Aidilfitri's Op Selamat 9. This is due to the prevalent reckless attitude of road users, which has been a major factor behind most fatal crashes.
Federal police Traffic Enforcement and Investigation Department (TEID) director Datuk Mahamad Akhir Darus said motorists, especially those returning to their hometowns, should Practise safe driving if they wanted to reach their destinations.
Advising motorists to be extra cautious, he said the department wotild not tolerate those who flouted traffic rules.
Road users found doing so will be slapped with a maximum RM300 fine for each offence, with no chance of appeal.
