COPS CLASSIFIED DEATH OF ABUSED BABY BOY AS MURDER

Kepala Batas, 28th November 2017 - The death of the year-old boy, who was allegedly abused by his Indonesian mother, has been classified as murder by the police.

The baby passed away yesterday after being in a coma for several days at the Penang Hospital’s intensive care unit.

He was bleeding from the brain while bruises were also found on his head, chest, arms and legs.

North Seberang Prai district police chief Asst Comm Noorzainy Mohd Noor said doctors pronounced the baby brain dead at 10.45am and his heart stopped beating at 5.05pm yesterday.

On Wednesday, a doctor at the Kepala Batas Hospital discovered the injuries while treating the baby, who was brought in by his 26-year-old mother when her child fell unconscious, and alerted the police.

She claimed that the boy had knocked his forehead on the floor while playing at their home in Paya Lahar Kepah, and her husband was not at home during the incident.

Police have remanded the woman for two weeks pending investigation.
