3 Held To Shed Light On Bangkok Bombing
Kuala Lumpur: Police have arrested three people in connection with last month's bomb blast in Bangkok on Aug 17 that left 20 dead. The trio - a Malaysian man, a Malaysian woman and a Pakistani man - were picked up several days ago at different locations in Kelantan and here.
They are being detained under the Security Offences (Special Measures) Act 2012 (SOSMA) to shed light on the blast, Inspector-General of Police Tan Sri Khalid Abu Bakar said the three, whose identities have been withheld, were detained following a tip-off from the Thai police.
"Yes, police have held three people, including a Pakistani man who works here, in connection with last month's bomb blast in Bangkok.
“They were nabbed following a tip-off received from our counterparts in Thailand. These arrests were to assist Thai police in tracing those responsible for the blast,” he said after delivering the keynote speech during the International Chamber of Commerce's International Maritime Bureau Meeting on Global Piracy, Armed Robbery and Maritime Security.
