Ipoh, 7th September 2021 - Perak police are awaiting further instructions from the deputy public prosecutor on the matter of heavier charges against a Bersatu member for assaulting a security guard who subsequently died last week.
Police Chief of Perak, CP Dato' Pahlawan Meor Faridalathrash Wahid affirmed the alleged assailant has yet to be detained, adding police are waiting for directives from the DPP.
Dato' Pahlawan Mior also denied citing article 7(2) of the Federal Constitution, as reported by The Malaysian Insight, when commenting on why the suspect was not re-arrested after the security guard, Thava Sagayam, died at his home in Ipoh, Perak, and the case was re-classified as murder.
On checking, The Malaysian Insight confirms that Dato' Pahlawan Mior did not cite the said article 7(2).
