NCID Director, CP Dato' Seri Khaw Kok Chin said if there was an urgent need, the department would transfer personnel to help them avoid unhealthy influences.

“If there is solid evidence, legal action will be taken against them.

“Some members of the police force have faced action under the Dangerous Drugs Act and the Security Offences (Special Measures) Act for involvement in drug trafficking,” he told the New Sunday Times recently.

While acknowledging that policemen were exposed to various temptations and work pressures, he said this in no way justified drug use or association with drug dealers.

Dato' Seri Khaw Kok Chin said the department frequently collaborated with the Integrity and Standards Compliance Department to conduct urine screenings on its personnel to ensure they remain drugfree.

“If caught for drug use or possession, NCID will not compromise, and investigations will proceed as usual.

“The investigation papers will then be referred to the relevant authorities for appropriate directives,” he said.
