“They have been closed. We have also deployed a Perak team from General Operation Force (GOF) so that there is a constant presence of enforcement officers there,” he said, referring to the GOF.

“This is important due to the many threats to safety such as the smuggling of drugs, firearms and daily goods. There are also other problems such as illegal foreigners,” he told reporters after attending the 218th Police Day celebrations here.

He said that festive seasons were usually a period of time when crimes take place.

“The criminals think that enforcement will be eased off during the period. But the answer is no.”

For example, he said Ops Pagar Laut is being conducted now at all maritime borders.

Datuk Seri Saifuddin Nasution said the police force must evolve to keep up with the trends in crime cases.

“That is why we are constantly improving in terms of training modules as crime takes on many facets.

“We cannot just use old training modules as the police force is not a static entity but a dynamic one,” he said.
