State deputy police chief, DCP Dato’ Arjunaidi Mohamed said police arrested eight people, aged 23 to 49, who are also suspected of turning living quarters into drug labs.

"We found various chemicals and tools which we believe were used to make the drugs," he said.

Police first arrested five people, including two foreigners, at a semi-detached house in Damansara Perdana, Petaling Jaya, on July 10 at around 2.45pm.

The five were found with various drugs, including Ecstacy, Ketamine, MDMA powder and Erirnin 5 pills, as well as tools and ingredients to make drugs.

Another two people were arrested in a house opposite to the one where police made their first arrest.

The seven are believed to belong to the same syndicate and supplied drug users in the Klang Valley.

Five of the suspected syndicate members also tested positive for drugs.

Separately, Dato’ Arjunaidi said police also arrested a 30-year-old man at a hotel room in Kajang on the same day at 9.30pm and seized 180g of heroin.

The suspect later led police to a service apartment in Subang Jaya where they found 14 packages believed to contain heroin, syabu and caffeine.

Dato’ Arjunaidi said all the suspects have been remanded until July 17 and will be investigated for drug trafficking under Section 39B of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952.
