Kuala Lumpur, 17th February 2025 - Over just a few days, more than RM1 billion worth of items were seized in police operations against illegal e-waste processing factories and plants - and that's just the tip of the iceberg, says Director of Internal Security and Public Order Department, CP Dato’ Sri Azmi Abu Kassim.

Dato' Sri Azmi said the department and all its elements, including the General Operations Force, will be mobilised for more raids in the near future.

“We will definitely conduct more raids on illegal e-waste factories around the country.

"Conducting such an illegal activity is a serious offence, not to mention it is harmful to the environment,” he said when contacted yesterday.

He said the department will work with relevant agencies such as the Environment Department and local authorities to stamp out illegal e-waste factories.

"At the same time, we will also step up efforts to collect actionable intelligence that will result in more operations in the future,” he added.

Dato’ Sri Azmi said not just illegal e-waste factories, all illegal activities, including smuggling of contraband and wildlife, are on the department's radar.
