Kuala Lumpur, 19th February 2025 - Police are working to identify those behind the smuggling of 50 tonnes of spent shell casings into the country, and their origin.

“Give us some time to investigate this properly. We will inform the public once we have more details,” said Director of Internal Security and Public Order Department, CP Dato’ Sri Azmi Abu Kassim.

The casings were found in a joint raid on an e-waste factory in Teluk Panglima Garang, Selangor, on Saturday.

The raid, led by the General Operations Force with assistance from the police's Air Wing and the Environment Department, found the casings in sacks.

The factory, which was processing the casings into tin and copper ingots, had no licence to do so.

Dato’ Sri Azmi said possessing spent ammunition without a permit was an offence under Section 8 of the Arms Act, punishable by a jail term of up to seven years, a maximum fine of RM10,000, or both.
