Keratan Akhbar Pilihan 139 Cops Sacked Last Year

Kuala Lumpur, 6th February 2023 - A total of 3,789 investigation papers were opened by the federal police Integrity and Standards Compliance Department (JIPS) in 2023, with 56 percent of them related to disciplinary issues, resulting in 139 dismissals last year.
Integrity-related offences led the list of policemen facing disciplinary action, according to the department's director, CP Dato’ Sri Azri Ahmad.
He said, to regain public trust, supervisory officials' complete adherence to the duty of caring for their subordinates must continue to be emphasised.
“This is in line with the (Inspector-General of Police's) directive issued in August last year where he gave us three months to put the special instruction into effect,” he said in an exclusive interview on the New Straits Times'' Beyond the Headlines programme.
“It (cases of policemen being involved in crime this year) clearly shows that we started (the year) on the wrong foot with the public now under the impression that the police are not doing their job,” he added.
Dato’ Sri Azri said the “bad apples” within the force were not more than two per cent, as the total number of staffs comprised 134,739 police personnel and public servants.
