Biography

Tan Sri Mohd Bakri was born on 10 September 1948 in Manjung, Perak. Holding a Master of Arts, he began his service as a Cadet Assistant Superintendent on 1 January 1971 and underwent basic police training at the Kuala Lumpur Police Training Centre (PULAPOL).

An experienced senior officer, he attended important courses including 'Hostage Negotiation Technique', 'Terrorism' and Airport Security Management, and like all previous Inspectors General of Police, he was a graduate of the Royal College of Defence Studies, United Kingdom.
