Inspector General Tan Sri Acryl Sani bin Hj. Abdullah Sani was born on 3 October 1961 in Petaling Jaya, Selangor. He studied at Universiti Utara Malaysia, holding a Master of Science (Management) and a Bachelor's degree (Hons) in Civil Engineering. He served in the RMP for 35 years, beginning on 2 February 1986 as a Cadet Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP).

Biography

Throughout his service he held key posts including Deputy OCPD Kampar (2002), Commandant of the PDRM College (2004), Chief Police Officer of Terengganu (2006), Commissioner of Police Sarawak (2011-2013), Chief Police Officer of Perak (2013), Director of the Crime Prevention and Community Safety Department (2014-2016), Director of the Commercial Crime Investigation Department (2017), Director of the Strategic Resources and Technology Department (2018) and Director of the Internal Security and Public Order Department (2018-2020).

He was entrusted to serve as Deputy IGP on 14 August 2020. On 3 May 2021 he was appointed the 13th Inspector General of Police, following the retirement of Tan Sri Dato' Seri Abdul Hamid bin Bador.
