He holds a Master's degree (Anthropology and Sociology) from Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia (UKM) and a Bachelor of Arts with honours from Universiti Malaya (UM), and completed the Advanced Management and Leadership Programme at the SAID Business School, University of Oxford, United Kingdom.
He was widely known as a very low-profile senior police officer, having previously served as Director of the Special Branch (SB) Bukit Aman. His selection to lead the RMP was fitting in continuing the struggle and trust of his predecessors.
His message to all RMP personnel is anchored in the concept of LOYAL (BERSETIA) to leadership, religion, nation and state, SERVING (BERKHIDMAT) wholeheartedly and without reservation, and TOGETHER (BERSAMA) united in facing whatever challenges lie ahead.
