Tan Sri Dato' Sri Khalid bin Abu Bakar was born on 5 September 1957 in Seremban, Negeri Sembilan. On 17 May 2013 he was officially appointed Inspector General of Police, succeeding Tan Sri Dato' Seri Haji Ismail bin Haji Omar, making him the 10th Inspector General of Police in the history of the Royal Malaysia Police.

Biography

He was widely known as a senior police officer who was always generous with his smile and endeared to all levels of society for his friendly manner. His career shows an outstanding record, particularly in criminal investigation and narcotics, holding key posts including Chief Police Officer of Selangor, Director of the National Security Department (KDN/KA) and Deputy Inspector General of Police.

While serving as Deputy Inspector General of Police, he shared the nation's difficult moments with the Inspector General of Police when national harmony was challenged by irresponsible parties. His appointment brought fresh momentum and positive transformation to the Royal Malaysia Police in sustaining the force's vision and mission as a World Class Police Force.

The best leader is one who faces trials, does not retreat, endures, and handles them wisely and responsibly.
