Inspector General Tan Sri Dato' Seri Abdul Hamid bin Bador was born on 7 August 1958 in Kuala Lumpur. He grew up in Rembau, Negeri Sembilan, studied at Sekolah Menengah Tunku Besar Tampin and holds a Diploma in Police Science from Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia (UKM). He served in the RMP for 39 years, beginning on 4 November 1979 as a Probationary Inspector.

Biography

Throughout his service, key posts he held included Head of District Special Branch and Deputy OCPD Gombak (1997 to 2002), Head of Kelantan Special Branch (2005), Head of Sabah Special Branch (2006), Principal Assistant Director of the Foreign Intelligence Division (2009) and Deputy Director of Special Branch I (2010).

On 23 May 2018 he was appointed Director of the Special Branch and was subsequently entrusted to act as Deputy Inspector General of Police from 15 March 2019, following the retirement of Tan Sri Dato' Sri Noor Rashid bin Ibrahim. On 3 May 2019, he was appointed the 12th Inspector General of Police.
