In conjunction with the global event of FutureGov Summit 2008 on 15-17 October 2008 in Bali, Indonesia, Royal Malaysia Police (RMP) was judged the winner of the prestigious global Goverment Technology Awards (Wireless Goverment) through its implementation of C4i Pilot System.More than 450 nominations all over the world in 11 categories of awards were submitted to the event organiser, Alphabet media. RMP, as the sole winner from Malaysia, signifies its achievement to international standard and world class recognition of its innovative effort in using wireless technology for combating crime and crisis management.

In line with the strategic vision of PS5T (Five Year Strategic Plan) of creating a mobile police force, RMP has leverage its diverse assets by utilisting and enhancing the C4i System. This system has enabled RMP to improve its response time to incidents from 15 minutes (as santioned by the RMP top management) to an average of 5.7 minutes (actual). This high technology endeavour tasking: giveing officers more time for high-visibility activities.

C4i was implemented in 2002 as a pilot project for Klang Valley i.e 5 police district in Kuala Lumpur and 6 Police districts in Selangor. The main su-system of C4i are:-

(i)AVLS (Automated Vehicle Location System),
(ii)MDCS ( Mobile data Communicetion System),
(iii)SAD ( Computer Aided Dispatching), and
(iv)Integration to the Legacy Databases.

The success of this project relied heavily on the effectiveness of wireless technology for both mobile and fixed wireless communications.

RMP assets and its management are very geogrphically and functionally diverse, and administratively highly hierachical. The C4i System capitalises on time as the critical advantage of RMP Operations by enabling RMP's Mobile personnel and assets to be logically present through the wide-area wireless network.
