Firearm Licence Application Flow
- Submit the relevant forms to the licensing branch of your home District HQ.
- Endorsed by the District Police Chief, forwarded to the Contingent HQ for State Chief support.
- Forwarded to Bukit Aman for the Inspector General's approval.
- A notification letter is issued to the applicant.

How do I apply for a firearm licence?
Get form POL 128 / PIL 125 from www.rmp.gov.my or the District licensing branch. Submit completed forms with certified supporting documents to the District licensing branch.
What are the requirements?
Aged 18+ and a Malaysian citizen; mentally and physically fit; no disability affecting firearm handling; no criminal record.
Which weapons need a licence?
All firearms including imitation firearms.
Who approves?
The Inspector General of Police or the State Chief Police Officer.
What are the fees and timeline?
No fee is charged. 180 working days with complete documents including related agency reports.
