The Crime Prevention and Community Safety Department (JPJKK) is a key division within the Royal Malaysia Police responsible for developing strategies and implementing initiatives to prevent crime and enhance public safety.

Established on 9 June 2014, the department is led by a Director (Commissioner of Police) and supported by two Deputy Directors: Strategic Planning and Operations.

To develop and implement strategies aimed at reducing crime and improving public perception of safety.

To be the leading authority in crime prevention to ensure a safe and secure Malaysia.

To implement holistic and integrated crime prevention approaches towards building a safe and harmonious community.

The establishment of JPJKK is linked to Malaysia’s Government Transformation Programme (GTP) introduced in 2009, which identified crime reduction as a key national priority.

Following various initiatives by the Royal Malaysia Police, a dedicated department was proposed in 2013. After evaluations and organisational planning, JPJKK was officially established in 2014 to strengthen crime prevention efforts.

Policy & Resource Management

Handles administration, finance, staffing, training, and logistics.

Land Operations

Manages patrol units including MPV, URB, beat patrol, and E-sector policing.

Support Resource Coordination

Coordinates Auxiliary Police, Volunteer Police Reserve, SUKSIS, and Police Cadet Corps.

Community Policing

Strengthens police-community collaboration and programmes like Rakan Cop.

Data & Analysis

Handles crime data analysis and monitoring systems such as Safe City Monitoring.

Secretariat

Coordinates overall departmental administration and implementation.
